RV Trends to Look Out for in 2024

2023 is winding down and whether you’re a seasoned road warrior or a newbie to the RV lifestyle, you’ve likely had your share of RV adventures. As we gear up for the new year, let’s take a sneak peek into the trends that will shape the RV industry in 2024.

Solar Eclipse Road Trip Extravaganza

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will occur and be visible across much of North America. This breathtaking phenomenon has sparked a surge in travel plans, with enthusiasts seeking the best seats in the house along the path of totality. And for many, the best way to experience this celestial event is by RV. According to internal booking data from RV rental community RVshare, there has been about a 324% increase in bookings for the weekend of April 8 compared to Memorial Day weekend.

Embracing AI for Travel Planning

In 2023, user-friendly AI tools exploded on the market. Not to be left out of the party, the RV industry has responded by developing websites and apps that feature AI to help travelers plan their trips. Take AdventureGenie, for example. This program allows you to enter a starting point and destination and it will suggest stopping points along the way. Select campgrounds along the route or use GenieMagic and have options suggested to you based on your preferences. You can even tell AdventureGenie some activities that you’d like to do and it will create an entire itinerary for you that includes your interests. The integration of AI promises to make travel planning enjoyable, efficient, and tailored to individual preferences.

The Electric RV Revolution

As the automotive industry charges forward with electric innovation, the RV space is not far behind. RV manufacturers are testing electric power as an alternative to traditional fuel-powered engines, and half of travelers now view trips in electric-powered RVs positively, citing cost savings and environmental benefits (such as reduced emissions), and quieter operation. We’ll see more electric RVs hitting the market in the coming year.

Color and Warmth in RV Interiors

According to Heartland RV’s interior design manager, Jill Peterson, consumers are pushing for warmer and brighter RV interiors. RV manufacturers like Heartland are responding, offering deep wood finishes, robust colors that mimic nature’s palette, and layered textures.

As 2024 unfolds before us, these and other trends will surely help shape yet another year of exciting RV travel and growth for the industry.
