3 Times You Might Consider Upgrading Your RV
Owning an RV can lead to many exciting adventures, whether you’re hitting the road for a few weekends a year or living in it full-time. However, there may come a point when your current rig might just be a stepping stone to your next one. Here are three common situations you might experience and decide to switch out your RV for another option:
1. The Size of Your Family is Changing
As your family or travel group changes in size, so do your space needs. If your family is growing, you might find your current RV cramped and uncomfortable. Upgrading to a larger option can provide the extra sleeping space and comfort you need.
Conversely, if your family is getting smaller, downsizing might be the way to go. For example, if you’ve been using a large 5th wheel for family camping trips but your kids are now off to college or moving away from home, the extra space in your RV might no longer be necessary. A motorhome or even a camper van could offer a more convenient and manageable option.
2. Wear and Tear Has Caught Up with Your Current RV
Is your RV showing signs of wear and tear? A tattered awning, peeling exterior decals, or failing systems can indicate that your RV is past its prime. If your rig is older, in disrepair, or beyond its useful life, and you don’t have the time or intention to rehab it, it might be time to find a replacement. Whether you choose to buy new or used, finding the right option to fit your needs can make a world of difference.
3. You’re Exploring New Camping Styles
Sometimes, a change in your camping style can prompt an RV switch. If you’ve always owned a motorhome but now want more mobility to access remote locations, a camper van, a truck camper, or a smaller towable RV with all-terrain tires might be a better fit. Alternatively, if you’ve been boondocking for years and are ready for a more predictable experience at campgrounds with water and shore power, a different type of RV might be in order.
